Day 1: Getting Up

For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

Proverbs 24:16

Life is hard. There are many things to juggle with. You might have a goal for your life, about where you want to be: economically, you’re not doing so well, and the closer you get to a certain age, the more anxious you become about whether or not you will ever get into a good career. The same may be for having children, getting married, having a serious, stable relationship or setting up a business. We all have goals, but these all take hard work and consistency. It is unwise to think that you can keep the exact same energy literally every day and every week for the rest of your life until you achieve your goals. Life happens, things get in the way. During those moments, we are more likely to beat ourselves up about it and reaffirm our mindset with negative thoughts.

Well, there is some solace in the scripture above. If you stumble or fall in life, you need to get back up again. If you stay down, you stop any chance of anything improving. When you get back on your feet, you can start again.

There is one quote from one of my favourite childhood shows, Sister Sister, that has always stuck with me:

you don't lose by getting knocked downyou lose by staying down

Get back up. It’s the only way you can continue.
